Kim’s only friend is dead, murdered.

Forced from the benign kingdom of Scotland, Kim must try to make a new life in the slums of London. Her new home, the outcast enclave of Little Calais, is riddled with gangs, drugs, and forbidden magic. Kim soon finds herself dragged into an unsavoury world of murder, espionage and clan politics.

There are compensations, however. There is a mysterious – and gorgeous – fae spy, and Georges, the old gentleman-drunk who owns most of Little Calais. Both make life bearable for a while. But then disaster strikes, and Kim is soon fighting for her life, as well as that of her mother and her unborn sibling.
