I grew up near Manchester but have spent most of my adult life in the south west of the UK. I'm a keen cyclist and it was during long rides along the Wye valley during my time in Bristol, when the seed of Iona Skane was planted. However it took several years and a some time in Australia before the seed could germinate and grow into the finished book.

Since then I've, completed an MA in Creative Writing at Exeter University and produced a couple more novels. One, The Madness of Charlie Mallet is a sequel to Iona and the other, The Door in the Door, is a standalone.

I'm back in the UK now and live in Somerset with my wife and two daughters.
